Lydia of "The Way I Like It"

Baby is here!

Just kidding.

Are you really surprised though? If I didn't know any better, I'd swear I was stuck in the Matrix or something, because the key to getting the baby to come out is that THERE IS NO BABY...or something like that. I don't know. I'm getting weird with all this waiting.

Today's guest blogger is my dear friend Lydia. She grew up with David's sisters and at this point is practically part of the family. She accepts me for who I am and pushes me to do things outside my comfort zone and will sit and chat with me for hours on end while our kiddos play. I'm so grateful for her and her husband's friendship; they're good people. Check her out at The Way I Like It.

I have to admit, I've started writing this guest post many times with many different topics. None of the topics really flowed because my mind has been very preoccupied lately. For the past few months I have been diligently working hard getting all my ducks in row to launch a photography company. With that in mind, I wanted to share with you the top five things that have helped me.

5. Raw talent. Awwwwww yeeeeeeah.
4. Self Awareness. There have been times where I wanted to follow the trends or try to duplicate the style of other photographers, thinking it would be the easier route. I always felt disappointed in the final result because it was too manufactured. Another problem was listening to a client too much and compromising myself in the process. My work is the best when I stay true to myself.
3. Patience. I have been working toward this for about 4 years, building my skills and portfolio. And saving and researching to get the best equipment.

2. Education. Lots of education. I have been devouring info through classes, books, and mentoring opportunities. Especially when it comes to running a business, there is so much to know.
1. Support System. My husband has been my number one supporter. Also, there have been quite a few friends and family members who have helped me out in many ways. Without all this support, I would still be years away from a launch. (Jen, the supportive friend that she is, came up with the concept for my logo.)

After writing all of that, I'm still not sure what benefit this list is to anyone. But there it is. And really I'm just a place holder for the post you are really waiting for: Cletus the Fetus' picture, real name, and birth stats.
