I mentioned in my 2014 list o' goals that I have some new writing gigs. Two new sites went live this month and I get to contribute to both! Squee!
Never mind, I take it back. I'm not so much a squee-er. But I am super excited about having the opportunity to write--more!--about things I love.
The sites are not even remotely related to one another in purpose or audience or anything. One gig is paid, the other is not. Honestly, though, if you know me it kinda makes sense. I have pretty eclectic interests, so why shouldn't I be taking on vastly different side projects?
The first is the sort-of job I mentioned way back in September. Are you familiar with Remodelaholic? If you are remotely interested in home renovating or decorating or DIY projects, you should definitely check it out. Cassity, the brains of the outfit, decided to launch a second site: Tipsaholic. While her first site is mostly house related stuff, Tipsaholic is a hodgepodge of better living tips. Parenting ideas and cleaning suggestions and ways to help you exercise more effectively, take better pictures, make delicious food, organize your life, and be an all-around awesomer person.
I'll be contributing weekly articles on pretty much any topic I want, and I would love your input. If you have any ideas--things you've always wanted to learn how to do or do better or whatever--feel free to send them my way and I'll see what we can put together for you!
The other site is smaller but more dear to my heart. The Beesley Project, named for Ebenezer Beesley, started out on my friend Sam's personal blog. Remember when I linked to his series of Christmas hymns earlier? I hope you read them. They were great. Anyway, he decided to continue the series and write about every hymn in the LDS hymn book over the course of a year. He asked several friends--including yours truly--to write regular lyrical and doctrinal analyses of the hymns, and now we have a few artists contributing beautiful images for many of our posts... It's just turning into such a cool project.
Today's post is about the song "Teach Me to Walk in the Light"; I hope you'll read it. We're tackling the hymn book at random, so while you may not know what hymn will be analyzed next, you do know it will be thought-provoking and uplifting. Even if you are not Mormon, I suggest you check it out. You might learn something about our faith and, if nothing else, discover just how much we love our God and our Savior.
So there you go. Two new sites to add to your feed reader, both with regular, new, original content by little ol' moi. It makes me nervous to suddenly have expanded my online presence (introvert and all) but I think maybe--just maybe--it's gonna be great.
It is. It's gonna be great.
That is so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alicia! I'm pretty excited about it.
DeleteI haven't checked out Tipsaholic yet, but I'm loving the Beesley Project so far. Such a good idea!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Sam is kind of a genius, and I feel blessed to be included.
