Brooke & Scott & AMY

Once upon a time I had a roommate named Brooke. She was awesome. Long story short, she was dating a boy named Scott (who was also awesome), they eventually got married, and thus they became the first married couple to still be my friends even though I was (gasp!) single.

Not that I didn't have married friends at the time, mind you. It was just that most of them kind of dropped off the face of the earth for a while, resurfacing occasionally for a lunch date or at the library or something like that. I didn't see them often, let alone spend time with my friend + his/her spouse. Yet both Brooke and Scott continued hanging out with us unmarried kids after their wedding, and it totally wasn't weird at all, and that was SO REFRESHING.

Anyway, I hadn't seen them in like six years, so I was thrilled when Brooke told me they would be in town for Easter weekend and wanted to visit. We made plans to meet up at the Arizona Museum for Youth, which was exciting because a) yay for hanging out with old friends and b) I'd never been there before.

They brought their three kiddos, I brought Mila and a still-in-utero Margot, and we played for several hours. It was super fun.

There was a whole room with giant soft blocks to stack into a fort, a play grocery store and house, and a little squishy area just for tiny ones to play.

There was a piano just the right size and shape for Mila to look like Schroeder while she "played" it.

There were a ton of little art projects to do, most of which were related to the current exhibit about weather.

There was even a little green screen and camera set up so both our Amelias could dress up and pretend to be meteorologists.

My personal favorite was the wall that looked like a giant Lite Brite. Mila was a huge fan.

And, just for fun, here's a video that shows her dancing for a couple seconds to the music being "played" by some random AMY worker dude. I didn't get a closer look at the DJ station, but it looked awesome; you just wave your hands between the posts and it changes the sounds being made.

So despite the fact that I was so hugely pregnant that I almost couldn't get out of the egg chair Brooke dared me to sit in, we had a great time.
