Dressing up the walls

One of these days I'll have the living room tidy enough to take photos and I can finally give you a full tour. It's about as finished as it's going to get for the moment, so I may as well show you what it looks like.

For now, though, all you get is evidence that there really is art on our walls. Not much of it--I still have several pieces in a closet just waiting for me to find them the perfect home--but even the few prints we put up make the room feel more lived in.
The piano is tucked in the corner by the window. You can just see the white curtains on the right. The more I look at this arrangement, the more convinced I am that the little shelf needs to be shifted up and to the right, or maybe the orange painting needs to come down an inch or two, but it will work until I'm sure. Also I have plans to hang something over the piano itself, I just don't know what that will be yet.
This is what I would see right now if I looked up from my laptop. I'll undoubtedly end up tweaking this vignette too once we are able to replace our well-worn hand-me-down furniture. (And oh! I am SOOOOO ready to replace our furniture! Why do pretty couches have to cost so dang much?) For the moment, though, it makes me so happy to see a few quirky favorites in one place.

It feels nice to get some more things crossed off the list--both this list and our ongoing list of house projects. We're slooooowly but surely turning this little house into our home.

  2. It looks like you have a lot of natural light coming in. It's really nice, and I like the color pallet you've got going on with the artwork!
