This is my in-laws' back yard.
I know they're invasive and not always desirable, but they sure are pretty.
I'm grateful for pretty things right now because, good heavens, the news is discouraging these days. Guys, this is happening. Here. In the United States of America. I forget, from my place of privilege, that racial tensions still run so high in our country. (Language warning, by the way. Just FYI.)
Yes, this is an extreme situation, but it's not isolated. You should definitely read this blog post. Again, I forget that this is the norm because it's not something I have to think about. And none of it--my white privilege, the way people of color are treated, our inability to acknowledge and improve it--is okay. We've got to be better than this.
On a completely unrelated and more uplifting note, there's this video. It's not great quality but it's super cute. Talented people married to talented people...it makes me happy.
Which reminds me: you should consider donating to Proof Bakery's Indiegogo campaign. I've only ever had his eclairs but they were delish. I'd love to be able to buy Proof bread at the local farmer's market, which is the goal of this campaign. Check it out!
I would absolutely love either of these living room options. Does that make me Marie?
I've been looking for an excuse to make this. Anyone want to have a barbecue so I can bring it as a side dish?
That is all, I guess. Go forth and be kind this weekend. Hugs all around.
